Summary of Previous Conferences

INTRODUCTION

The Institute of Water and Flood Management has become a premier institute which promotes interdisciplinary water resources management through its research, academic programs and outreach activities. Presently as many as nineteen research projects are ongoing at the institute with many of those involving local and foreign collaborative researchers from wide ranging academic backgrounds. We have also been aiming to nourish interdisciplinary research through ICWFM.

At ICWFM we aspire to bring together academicians, researchers, professionals, policy planners and decision makers from home and abroad to share and exchange their views and experiences on water and flood management. The first ICWFM was held in March 2007 and it was decided by the Organizing Committee that the conference would be held biennially. Accordingly, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th ICWFM were held during 2009, 2011, 2013 2015 and 2017, respectively. The conference has become one of the most important conferences on water management. All the past conferences have attracted number of local and international participants and were successful in generating a great deal of interest and awareness regarding the challenges and issues of water and flood management at home and abroad. The event has, therefore, become an awaited one among the professionals and researchers of this sector.
